This year, 2023, we said farewell to Angela, our Practice Manager, who had been with us for just over 10 years.  We also farewelled Simon, our Head Nurse, who had been with us for 12 years.
They will be missed by clients, patients and our team.
We wish them all the best with their new endeavours.

Andrew Redmond

Veterinarian & Practice Owner

Andrew is our practice owner and senior veterinarian, graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1987 with honours. After graduating Andrew worked as an associate veterinarian in small animal practices before landing with us here in Beaumaris.  Andrew has been working at Beaumaris Veterinary Hospital since mid 2000 and has owned the practice since 2005.

Andrew's love for his patients is undoubtable with many pets dragging their owners through the door on their walk through the Concourse, to be greeted with a cuddle and a scratch from Andrew.  He really does love his job.

Andrew enjoys medicine and surgery - but he loves dental procedures!

Andrew has two sons, Matt and Sam as well as Frankie, an elderly black Labrador,  Red and Lilah his Burmese cats.

Nicky Berg

Veterinarian

Originally from Sydney, Nicky began her vet life as a country veterinarian in 1988, delivering calves around the South Gippsland countryside.

Nicky then spent 4 years treating all creatures great and small throughout Northern Ireland, Europe and across Africa. Travelling back to Australia the long way by motorbike across Asia, Nicky worked in country NSW, before moving to Germany for 3 years with her husband.

Joining Beaumaris Vet in 2020, Nicky thrives on the weird and wonderful cases, loving internal medicine, endocrinology and soft tissue surgery.  Nicky has been busy adding ultrasound to her skillet which greatly aids diagnosis of internal disease.

Outside work, Nicky enjoys an active lifestyle with her husband and 2 daughters. She seeks adventure in the form of regular hikes in Tasmania or the mountains, cycling, cross country skiing and swimming regularly in the bay.

Spare time? You will find her out with her horses or down in Tasmania.

Alice Ryan

Head Nurse

We welcomed Alice to our BVH team in February 2024, however Alice had a successful corporate career in the retail hardware world and management before deciding to pursue her passion for animal welfare and starting her beloved career as a Veterinary Nurse in 2021.

Alice also has experience as a Veterinary Practice Manager, however found her passion lies in being ‘on the tools’ and being close by to all her patients, ready to give a snuggle and comfort whenever it’s needed. Alice has a keen interest in ‘stress-free’ animal handling and anesthesia.

She is welcomed home after work by her very energetic and loving Kelpie X ‘Henry’ and her tabby cat duo ‘Chip’ and ‘Tilly’. When Alice isn’t at BVH, you will find her taking Henry on an outdoor adventure, camping, playing her guitar or planning her next Airbnb getaway!

Yasaman Biazar

Veterinary Nurse

Completing her DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) in Iran in 2011, Yas has many years of being a Veterinarian up her sleeve. Migrating to Australia in 2023, Yas brought her Veterinary skill set with her! Unable to currently be employed in Australia as a Veterinary Surgeon due to regulations, Yas has stepped beautifully into a Veterinary Nursing role with us at BVH, and goodness are we lucky to have her.

'I am currently working as a Veterinary Nurse, enjoying the latest developments in the veterinary field.  I enjoy providing the best conditions for our furry friends during their treatment time at BVH.  I am so pleased to be part of the experienced and dedicated team at BVH.'

When Yas isn't at BVH you will find her whipping up some beautiful food or out and about photographing our beautiful Australian Flora and Fauna.

Ella Maitland

Veterinary Nurse

In 2018 Ella jumped straight into Veterinary Nursing after high school, wasting no time completing her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, finding her way to BVH in September 2022.

You'll find Ella at the reception desk or in surgery, but Ella finds the most rewarding part of her job is when a patient that has been very sick for a period of time gets well enough to go home to their family.

A big fan of sports, Ella plays competitive football and cricket. She also trains juniors. Ella has a big teddy bear (Airedale Terrier) called Lenny, who loves to hang out at the beach.

Summer Franklin

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Summer has just begun her veterinary nursing career, joining BVH in 2023.  While Summer undertakes a Bachelor of Science at Monash University she is very eager to work in the industry.

Summer thrives on learning more about our wild industry and providing exceptional care for our furry friends. She has a love for English Bulldogs and has a troublesome one named Brian and a Dogue De Bordeaux named Daryl.

In Summer’s free time you will find her taking Brian to the beach, studying hard or planning a well deserved trip overseas!
